My Practice

My approach is rooted in relationships. I believe that all of our struggles happen in the context of family, friendship, partnership, and community.

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”

- James Baldwin

Couples

Couple relationships are the source of tremendous comfort and joy, but also have the potential to be exquisitely painful and challenging. Pair bonding is part of what makes us human and we have evolved to seek out and attach to a partner. Modern life puts extraordinary strains on our couple relationships and struggles are inevitable. I approach couple work from an attachment perspective and believe that finding a balance between closeness and independence is vital for a healthy partnership. I have found through experience that longer sessions spaced less frequently tend to yield more productive sessions, so I typically offer 2-hour couple therapy sessions on a biweekly basis. I am currently in the process of certifying as an EFT (emotionally focused therapy) couple therapist.

Mormons

I specialize in working with members or former members of the LDS church to address issues such as faith transitions, mixed-faith marital challenges, crises of faith, being LGBTQ+ in the church, among many others. My background as a Mormon means I have the experience and knowledge necessary to understand your struggles in a deeply intimate way. You won’t need to explain the intricacies of your belief system or try to convey how significant the Church is or has been in your life. My position with respect to the LDS Church does not bear on my clinical work as I respect each individual’s beliefs and personal decisions. I have served on the board of directors of the Mormon Mental Health Association since 2020.

I reserve a limited number of time slots for a sliding scale fee. The amount of the sliding scale fee is negotiated prior to booking your first session. It is my goal to serve clients regardless of their ability to pay, so please inquire should my standard fee fall outside of your budget.
